SpiralWeave comprises of several clockwise and anti-clockwise spirals interleaved in a weaving pattern. This resembles a flower with petal shaped segments that are almost fractal in form as they take in increasingly wider radii and more and more sub-segments.
The algorithm is quite simple and can be parameterised in a number of ways such as the number of segments per rotation, the number of vanes per segment and the number of crossings per spiral. The SpiralWeave above is 60cm radius mounted on a pale blue backing card which is then mounted within a floater frame.
This was selected for the Making Art 4.0 San Francisco edition and is on display between 26th April - 6 May 2018 at the Fort Mason Centre, San Francisco.
